Psalms 55.0:

55

For the Chief Musician. On stringed instruments. A contemplation by David.

Psalms 55.1: 1 Listen to my prayer, God.

Don’t hide yourself from my supplication.

Psalms 55.2: 2 Attend to me, and answer me.

I am restless in my complaint,

and moan

Psalms 55.3: 3 because of the voice of the enemy,

because of the oppression of the wicked.

For they bring suffering on me.

In anger they hold a grudge against me.

Psalms 55.4: 4 My heart is severely pained within me.

The terrors of death have fallen on me.

Psalms 55.5: 5 Fearfulness and trembling have come on me.

Horror has overwhelmed me.

Psalms 55.6: 6 I said, “Oh that I had wings like a dove!

Then I would fly away, and be at rest.

Psalms 55.7: 7 Behold, then I would wander far off.

I would lodge in the wilderness.” Selah.

Psalms 55.8: 8 “I would hurry to a shelter from the stormy wind and storm.”

Psalms 55.9: 9 Confuse them, Lord, and confound their language,

for I have seen violence and strife in the city.

Psalms 55.10: 10 Day and night they prowl around on its walls.

Malice and abuse are also within her.

Psalms 55.11: 11 Destructive forces are within her.

Threats and lies don’t depart from her streets.

Psalms 55.12: 12 For it was not an enemy who insulted me,

then I could have endured it.

Neither was it he who hated me who raised himself up against me,

then I would have hidden myself from him.

Psalms 55.13: 13 But it was you, a man like me,

my companion, and my familiar friend.

Psalms 55.14: 14 We took sweet fellowship together.

We walked in God’s house with company.

Psalms 55.15: 15 Let death come suddenly on them.

Let them go down alive into Sheol.

For wickedness is among them, in their dwelling.

Psalms 55.16: 16 As for me, I will call on God.

Yahweh will save me.

Psalms 55.17: 17 Evening, morning, and at noon, I will cry out in distress.

He will hear my voice.

Psalms 55.18: 18 He has redeemed my soul in peace from the battle that was against me,

although there are many who oppose me.

Psalms 55.19: 19 God, who is enthroned forever,

will hear and answer them. Selah.

They never change,

who don’t fear God.

Psalms 55.20: 20 He raises his hands against his friends.

He has violated his covenant.

Psalms 55.21: 21 His mouth was smooth as butter,

but his heart was war.

His words were softer than oil,

yet they were drawn swords.

Psalms 55.22: 22 Cast your burden on Yahweh and he will sustain you.

He will never allow the righteous to be moved.

Psalms 55.23: 23 But you, God, will bring them down into the pit of destruction.

Bloodthirsty and deceitful men shall not live out half their days,

but I will trust in you.

Malachi 4.0:

Malachi 4.1: 1 “For, behold, the day comes, it burns as a furnace; and all the proud, and all who work wickedness, will be stubble; and the day that comes will burn them up,” says Yahweh of Armies, “that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.

Malachi 4.2: 2 But to you who fear my name shall the sun of righteousness arise with healing in its wings. You will go out, and leap like calves of the stall.

Malachi 4.3: 3 You shall tread down the wicked; for they will be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I make,” says Yahweh of Armies.

Malachi 4.4: 4 “Remember the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded to him in Horeb for all Israel, even statutes and ordinances.

Malachi 4.5: 5 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the great and terrible day of Yahweh comes.

Malachi 4.6: 6 He will turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers, lest I come and strike the earth with a curse.”
